One of the most powerful statements that has ever been made by the Lord Jesus Christ is the one below:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
This statement would be called narrowminded by the liberal crowd, and even judgmental by many in the “religious” crowd, but it is the plain truth. Jesus knew about rejection when He walked this earth. In fact His own people [The Jewish people] rejected Him for the most part.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:11-12)
In the book of Acts there is a an interesting passage of scripture that flows perfectly with this same truth of Jesus Christ being the only way of salvation. There was a miracle which had taken place, where a man who had been lame even from his mothers womb was healed instantly. [Acts 3:1-8] The Jewish religious rulers and leaders were very upset by what happened, because they preached Jesus, and the resurrection from the dead, and so they grabbed hold of them. [Acts 4:1-3]
And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? (Acts 4:5-7)
What an enormous opportunity was presented here to Peter to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Listen to what Peter told the Jewish religious leaders:
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:8-12)
The first thing that you need to notice here is that Peter was speaking under the unction of the Holy Ghost [Spirit], so you know that he was speaking the truth. The next thing that you need to notice is that Peter told them that the lame man was healed by the power of Jesus Christ, the one whom THEY crucified. The last and most important thing is that Peter told the Jewish religious leaders that there is salvation in NONE other name, other than the name of Jesus Christ.
Friends, this Gospel is not complicated at all. God offers salvation to every living person on planet earth, but that salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. When you see the religious people of today patting each other on the back, and telling each other that we all worship the same God, in different ways, even if they choose not to repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ, that is a bogus message. If it comes from a “Christian” then you can rest assured that the person has a bogus Christianity, that is not based upon the truth of the scriptures.
